For example, while many of us know that there is the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry, few, probably, know the bench strength of that outfit: it isn’t just a bunch of staffers who may not even own cars who are involved (not that I think that people fitting this description aren’t busy doing assessments and drafting reports).

Potholes Serve a Purpose
Speed bumps cost money to install.  Potholes, however, are free.  That’s why leaders in the town of Navestock, England, have suggested that the highway department not pave over the potholes that have pitted the city streets because they naturally cause people to slow down.

Fecal Bus Power
Biofuel has taken on a whole new meaning in Olso, Norway, where city officials have decided to use biomethane fuel to power its bus fleet.  What’s biomethane, you ask?  Well, it’s what you produce when you sit on the porcelain throne . . . or visit your home library.

Detroit Demise ”A Lot of Nonsense Talk”
“Detroit is going to be back …,” he said in a voice redolent of a favorite cyborg. “For anyone who says leave them alone, let them go – that to me is a lot of nonsense talk,” California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger publicly stated at the SAE World Congress. When Arnold has your back, things can only get better. – Read More

The World Is Watching Detroit
Taiwan may seem a world away from the turmoil happening in Motown, but the shockwaves echoing from GM and Chrysler are emitting concern 7,500 miles away. While recently attending the 2009 Taipei International Auto Parts and Accessories show, more than a few representatives from Asian-based suppliers wasted little time quizzing me on what was happening in Detroit.  ...Read More
