Novozymes is in the business of “bioinnovation.” It produces “industrial biosolutions.” And while this may sound rather exotic, it produces such things as enzymes for use in detergents, enzymes for animal feed, and even enzymes that are used in the production of wine, beer, and alcohol, among other products. The company, which is based in Denmark, has over 700 products used in 130 countries.

Novozymes also happens to be what is claimed to be the world’s largest producer of enzymes for advanced biofuels. And at the Washington Auto Show next week, the Novozymes scientists will be exhibiting what is arguably one of the most important and significant developments of the 21^st century:

They will be showing a flex-fuel Chevy HHR with fuel derived from government waste. That’s right, what is apparently an infinite supply of fuel.

OK. It seems that the fuel is formulated with fuel that’s made from paper waste. Still, there is a whole lot of that in Washington. (They’re actually going to be discussing the production of fuel from municipal and agricultural waste. But still. . . .)

We’re wondering whether anyone has thought of powering vehicles in Washington with another nearly infinite resource: hot air.
