“Mopar” resonates strongly with those who are in the muscle-car world, of course. What is perhaps not widely known is that the vehicle most tricked out with Mopar parts and accessories from the Chrysler Group brand in North America is the Ram 1500. The Dodge Challenger, which seems to be more likely, comes in third. The Jeep Wrangler separates the pickup and the muscle car.
One of the things that Mopar has done over the past few years is to come out with a special-edition, limited-product car. They’ve produced the Mopar ’10 Challenger, the Mopar ’11 Charger, and the Mopar ’12 300.
And for 2013 it is the Mopar Dart. Just 500 units of the car will be produced at the Chrysler assembly plant in Belvidere, Illinois.
The Mopar ’13 Dart is readily discernible with its gloss-black finish accentuated by a set of car-length “Mopar Blue” stripes. There is a Mopar badge in the crosshair grille and a Mopar logo of the center caps of the 18-in. wheels that are wrapped by low-profile, 40-aspect performance tires. The suspension is lowered 7 mm, there is a performance steering gear calibration, and there is a premium brake kit with slotted rotors. A ground effects kit—front chin spoiler, rear decklid spoiler, rear diffuser—is applied.
Inside there is a custom Mopar blue leather seat for the driver. Other seats are black with blue stitching. There is a blue-stitched leather-wrapped steering wheel and similar shift knob for the manual transmission.
