Land Rover: Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It. . .

To describe the weather that was experienced in the U.K. this past January as “extremely inclement” would be to profoundly understate the case. Freezing temperatures, ice that stressed the salt-supplying system, and snow that had nowhere to go all added up to one rather unpleasant situation.

But not for Land Rover.

Rover

“Heavy snow and icy conditions last month meant car buyers were looking for a vehicle that provides them with the all-terrain capability to keep them on the roads,” stated John Edwards, managing director of Land Rover.

And not only were they looking (e.g., the company’s UK website had double the number of hits as it had the previous January), they were buying: Discovery sales were up 92% from January 2009, Range Rover Sport up 66%, Freelander up 57%, and Range Rover up 24%.

Which just goes to show that every cloud does have a silver lining for someone.
