The ground clearance that the engineers at Famek AB, the Swedish company which produces Stringo Vehicle Movers, had to work with on the Ferrari race cars that are produced in Modena and need to be ferried through the shop is just 60 mm. That’s little more than the length of an AA battery. Yet they had to devise a means of doing it.
It took three months. Speaking of what they accomplished, Anders Bergkvist, marketing director at Famek, said, “It’s probably the world’s lowest car mover.”
The lifter goes underneath the car from the back (the front ground clearance is less than 60 mm). There are recesses on the mover that secures the rear wheels. The press arms that keep the car from rolling forward are flat on the ground when the rear wheels are rolled onto the device. Once everything is in place, the car is elevated 50 mm for transport.
