Crowd-sourcing a Porsche

What happens if you crowd-source the design of a car? While it could turn into something that would be, to put it mildly, somewhat abominable, the Porsche fans on the company’s Facebook page actually came up with something that is rather nice.

Some 54,000 social media users voted on the ideal design of a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S. What they came up with was a car with a special color, Aquablaumetallic, 20-inch Carrera S wheels finished in white, an “Aerokit Cup” package (front apron with additional front spoiler lid; rear decklid with fixed spoiler), and custom door sills.

No reports of the addition of any large screens to connect to Facebook installed in the interior.

Perhaps that says a lot about Porsche fans when it comes to their appreciation of good design.

Porsche sponsored the undertaking as part of its 911 50th anniversary celebration.
