The F2007 is the 53rd single-seater to be built by Ferrari’s Scuderia since its inception in 1929, and is arguably the most exotic in terms of both aerodynamics and materials. To meet revised technical requirements from the FIA, F1’s sanctioning body, engineers at Ferarri’s storied Gestione Sportiva division (solely responsible for handling all of the automaker’s racing programs) were required to make significant changes to the previous car’s body and chassis, including the addition of a thick pad of Zylon, a composite material, to improve side impact protection.
