“We have seen a shift in the way our customers are trying to execute their business. They are looking for collaboration as it relates to how they can execute business processes to accelerate throughput to bring new products to market faster,” says Chuck Ratigan, industry solutions executive at IBM, who points out that IBM will not choose a favored software but will support a number of PLM providers, including Dassault, Siemens, PTC, and many others. This, Ratigan says, will help suppliers to become more compatible with OEMs, no matter which system they use. “If the OEM says, ‘You need to use my applications for design because I want commonality,’ that will have an impact on the way you do business because you have to deal with other customers and their systems, yet manage your own business strategy. This service puts a solution in place that gives you the capabilities to satisfy the business flexibility and scalability you need to achieve.”—KMK
